Introduction

Managing risk is not new to any organisation.  However the current thought leadership on risk management recognises the need to balance the formal implementation measures for ERM with practical considerations such as getting the Board engaged in the governance of risk, strengthening the risk culture and promoting the conscious ownership for risk management at the operating level.  Risk management is increasingly critical in ensuring enterprise resilience and the ability to respond appropriately to risks.  Risk management today has to deal with more frequent external threats and strategic level risk taking which is necessary in the pursuit of profits and sustainable growth. 

Corporate Counsels will be able to tap on the training content to understand the importance of risk management, its principles and the role it plays as a second line of defence for the Board.  Corporate Counsels will be able to appreciate and apply a systematic approach towards identifying, measuring, prioritising and responding to day-to-day risks and business challenges.  Aside to this, case studies will reinforce the pitfalls of applying risk management incorrectly and provide a wider perspective on emerging and existing risk exposures which are becoming all too prevalent in the interconnected and digitalised ecosystem we live and operate in.
