Module 2 Overview

This module introduces participants to the key concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at an overall level and its applications in different industries including the legal industry. Topics include machine learning and other AI concepts and tools as well as applications of AI in various industries including legal sector. Some of the areas proposed to be covered include automating legal research and discovery, document automation as well as other uses of AI in the legal industry.
This module will help participants understand what is currently happening in this space and how such technology can be utilised most efficiently within the legal sector.

Objectives

The aims of this module are to:

• Provide participants with an understanding of basic concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
• Educate participants about the various AI applications and uses
• Provide participants with an understanding of trends in automation and technology trends in services sector including the legal industry
• Assess the understanding of the AI concepts amongst the participants

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module, participants will be able to:

1. Show knowledge and understanding of AI concepts
   • Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
   • Artificial Intelligence domains
   • Introduction to Machine Learning
2. Demonstrate module specific skills and understanding of:
   • Popular Artificial Intelligence applications
   • Utility of the various automation trends in services sector including legal industry
3. Explain the challenges and applications of AI
   • Discuss the challenges, security and ethical issues related to AI
   • Identify the value of AI in legal industry
4. Apply AI concepts to the legal industry
   • Applying AI concepts and tools in key activities within legal industry
   • Employ AI tools for frequent tasks & activities like legal research, contracts and related documentation

His experience has also included understanding the impact of technologies like AI, IOT; Blockchain; among others, mainly in the context of both private and public sectors in industries like Healthcare; ICT; Electronics and Semiconductors, Engineering, Automotive, Energy, Chemicals, among others.
