Event Overview:

SCCA is proud to support the ongoing nation-wide Conversations on Women’s Development and to contribute our feedback and views towards a white paper relating to women’s development to be prepared by the end of June 2021. The “Conversations on Women’s Development” was launched on 20 September 2020 to kickstart a national effort to understand Singaporeans’ aspirations and ideas on how we can further advance our women in Singapore.

In-house counsels are well placed to understand some of these complexities, and to also offer constructive solutions on the same, especially for any challenges that may be faced in the workforce or for those balancing responsibilities at home and in the workplace.

Both men and women are welcome to contribute to this dialogue, and we look forward to everyone’s active participating to show our support for this cause. Do sign up by 17 March 2021 and join us in this conversation!

Discussion:

The Conversation will comprise of group break-out discussions that will centre on women concerns in the areas of home, school, community and the work environments, and then a summarized discussion to reflect the same with the Minister. We look forward to the meaningful highlight of relevant concerns, as well as possible solutioning of such areas that may be discussed.

Guest of Honor:

Minister of State Sun Xue Ling is the Minister of State in the Ministry for Education and Ministry for Social and Family Development. She has been elected as a Member of Parliament since September 2015.

Before entering politics, Minister Sun spent more than a decade in the Private Sector in Finance and Investments. Ms Sun spent her early career at the Economic Development Board of Singapore and DBS Bank Ltd. She was then Director, Investments Group, at Temasek International, focusing on investment opportunities in China and other developing countries in Latin America. She had also spent 8 years based in Hong Kong and China working for Deutsche Bank AG as a Director and also as Senior Vice-President in Macquarie Securities. In recent years, Minister Sun was appointed CEO of Business China, a non-profit organisation which aims to form a cultural and economic bridge linking the world and China.
