Dr Kumaran s/o Rasappan was an Orthopaedic Surgical Resident at Tan Tock Seng Hospital when he decided to take a one year no-pay leave in 2012 to climb Mount Everest to generate funds for needy patients from low-income families.About a year later, he scaled seven mountains including the Mount Everest and in the process generated funds for needy patients in excess of S$40,000. Since his Everest ascent, he has delivered talks and lectures on how individual contributions can make a difference.
