International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world for its authenticity of initiatives, ideas, creativity and a reason to bring achievements of women from all walks of life together. Women regardless of status, divisions, ethnicity, culture, economy or politics are still working very hard for gender equality. In some countries, this is a fight for deliverance. 49.5% of the world’s population are made up of women and about 1.1 billion women today are challenging the status quo. They’re redefining womanhood, and they’re doing so against the odds but these odds are sometimes women themselves!

At the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association’s 2019 WILL event, we will bring together an all-star group of women who are paying it forward and "doing it for the next girl" to help make a bigger impact within our communities. The program will focus on real life stories and provide actionable conversations that will make a difference for everyone!

Soufra follows the unlikely and wildly inspirational story of intrepid social entrepreneur, Mariam Shaar – a generational refugee who has spent her entire life in the Burj El Barajneh refugee camp just south of Beirut, Lebanon. The film follows Mariam as she sets out against all odds to change her fate by launching a successful catering company, “Soufra,” and then expand it into a food truck business with a diverse team of fellow refugee woman who now share this camp as their home.

Let’s do away with the “am I good enough” attitude to a “how can I accomplish my full potential”. How to deliver at an interview or create the compelling case within your organisation for a promotion or pay rise? These conversations will reveal personal strategies which have enabled others to achieve their success.

4:00pm - Women Disrupters, Breaking the Mould

Let’s transition to 21st Century Leaders. Transformational leadership motivates others to improve their performance. Transformational leadership skills have a positive impact on all levels of performance- individual, team, and organizations. This is an innate skill within women and this session will cover how to hone in on these key skills.

4:30pm - The Art of Charisma

Every individual has a distinctive set of values and skills. These can sometimes create issues when conflict or miscommunication occurs. Master the art of leadership charisma by understanding human dynamics and how relationships can work positively for you. Learn military techniques, war-games and personality strategies from experience women who have mastered the art

5:15pm - Making a Difference

By being there for those who need a little more support, we can help change their future. At WILL 2019, SCCA is fortunate enough to be part of a project initiative by SG Enable where women with disabilities, young women at risk and women in law exchange life tips and share stories to make a difference in each other's life.

A Conversation About the Film SOUFRA - Q&A with Rebelhouse Asia Directors

Mr Suraj P. Upadhiah is the co-founder and Director of Rebelhouse Asia, a global social impact media agency that primarily produces and distributes documentaries for change. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Air Amber, a social enterprise that is focused on community development through an Asset Based, Relational approach. Suraj is passionate about building uplifting relationships between people and communities that inspire positive action. He has traveled extensively, seeking adventure in learning from each relationship that he encounters.Suraj strongly believes that he has a part to play in co-creating a world filled with compassion, and not pity.

Tiziana Tan the Founder and CEO of Brain Juice Collective, the first youth-run marketing agency, education and venture ecosystem with a focus on elevating and empowering conscious brands to create global impact. By pioneering a hybrid model of dedicated consultants and a diverse youth talent network since 2015 and expanding into education and ventures a year later, they have meaningfully engaged more than 2000 youths as well as people with special needs and launched several successful start-ups including an online grocer and artist-driven range. She is also a Director at Rebelhouse Asia, a social impact film distribution and production house that has brought awareness, inspired action, changed laws and raised millions of dollars for impact. The group’s award-winning films have been featured at film festivals like Cannes and Sundance, on news media like The New York Times and Variety, distributed globally and bought over by the likes of Lionsgate (Pilgrim Studios), Netflix and more.

Carolyn Chin-Parry

A highly respected Senior Executive and Digital Leader, Carolyn Chin-Parry has been engaged by The Economist, Fortune 500 global leaders, ASX 200 clients, the largest technology firms, Ivy League universities, governments and international conferences to share her knowledge on Transformation and the Future of Work. Her expertise lies in guiding senior leaders in what it takes to be a Transformational Leader and how best to prepare teams for the Future of Work. Carolyn has a strong track record of leading some of the largest digital transformation programs in Asia Pacific and is passionate about future-proofing companies for Industry 4.0+. As a senior professional and long term management consultant, Carolyn has performed roles such as Chief Digital Officer for a large South East Asian conglomerate (60 companies with 100,000 staff), as well as a KPMG Director in the Transformation practice. Carolyn is a Board Director for a Singaporean charity and is on the International Advisory Committee for the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Previously nominated for a National Teaching Award in Australia for Innovative Teaching, Carolyn also served on an Australian University Advisory Board for ten years. A keynote speaker with an impressive list of engagements and publications, Carolyn has been featured by highly respected authorities such as Singapore GovTech, The Economist (three times), the AICB Global Banking conference, Microsoft Leaders program and the Australian Journal of Information Systems.

Rachel Tan

Rachel Tan is an investigator of nearly 15 years and is professionally qualified as a Chartered Accountant (non-practicing; Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants). She has exposure to a varied investigations portfolio, and has investigated employee misconduct, financial crimes (sanctions violations; money laundering etc.) and market misconduct (non-compliance with securities and derivatives regulations).

Her investigations career has taken her across the spectrum, from the private sector (varied industries, all MNCs), to a semi-regulator, and to a law enforcement agency. Some of her career highlights include being awarded by a major financial institution for her contributions to a task force, and her appointment as lead / joint investigator of high profile cases that have been the subject of global media interest.

In her current role as an investigator for a major Energy and Natural Resources MNC, she is based in Singapore and has regional (APAC) remit.
