Speakers:

Till Kosche advises German and foreign financial and strategic investors regarding M&A and private equity transactions. He has special expertise in complex multinational transactions. With respect to corporate matters, he has particular experience in complex joint ventures and restructurings (including cross-border restructurings). He also regularly advises Asian clients with significant in-bound investments in Germany and is responsible for the Firm's China Desk in Frankfurt.

Terence Quek is the Deputy Head of the M&A Practice Group, with more than 20 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, PE/VC deals, local and cross-border joint ventures, corporate restructurings, corporate rescues and general commercial law.

He has advised on the amalgamation, acquisition and sale of companies, undertakings and businesses in almost every sector of industry, including banking, insurance, manufacturing, IT, pharmaceuticals, property development and healthcare, just to name a few.

Terence is also actively involved in a wide spectrum of investment transactions on both buy and sell-sides, ranging from seed financing to early-stage investments to growth capital as well as exits, and joint venture deals involving both local and cross-border entities.

He has been recognised in these areas of expertise by IFLR1000 with clients describing him as "[having a] very in depth understanding of subject matter" and "provides solutions and a different perspective to solving issues". Noted for driving the firm's growth in Singapore's startup space, Terence has also been ranked in Chambers Asia-Pacific 2022 for his vast experience in acting for investors and emerging companies on investment and financing mandates.

He is a member of the Firm's Executive Committee, and formerly the Deputy Head of the Corporate Commercial practice group.

He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2001 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2002, and to the Roll of Solicitors of England and Wales in 2008.

Terence was a tutor with the NUS Law School's Legal Case Studies programme. He was also recognised by Singapore Business Review as one of Singapore's 40 Most Influential Lawyers Aged 40 and Under in 2015.

Mr Wan is responsible for all of legal, compliance, corporate secretarial, human resource as well as corporate communications and administration matters across all business units and countries. He is also the Joint Company Secretary of MIPL and the four Mapletree REIT Managers as well as the group's acquisition of logistics and office assets in Germany. In addition, Mr Wan is a Member/Secretary of the SMU Advisory Board for the Real Estate Programme.

Prior to joining Mapletree as Group General Counsel in 2009, Mr Wan was Group General Counsel – Asia at Infineon Technologies for seven years, where he was a key member of its Asia-Pacific management team. He started his career as a litigation lawyer with one of the oldest law firms in Singapore, Wee Swee Teow & Co., and was subsequently with the Corporate & Commercial/Private Equity practice group of Baker & McKenzie in Singapore and Sydney.

Dessi, Vice President at S&P Global Inc. (Nasdaq: SPGI), is Head of Market Intelligence Legal, APAC. S&P is a world leader in critical information, data analytics and solutions for the major industries and markets that drive economies worldwide.

Dessi has extensive experience in advising on high value technology and IP licensing transactions, RegTech innovation, joint ventures and tech acquisitions across the region and globally. Prior to joining S&P in 2010, Dessi worked within the corporate department of BLP, an international law firm based in London, advising Global Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 companies on M&A and ECM transactions. She earned a B.A. in Law, graduating with honors, and a Distinction in the Post Graduate Legal Practice diploma from the University of Sheffield. She also holds a Masters in Legal Technology from IE University. Dessi currently serves as President of the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association which serves to represent the inhouse legal community in Singapore.

 

 

Kelvin is a partner in the Dispute Resolution Department at Allen & Gledhill LLP, one of the largest law firms in Singapore. Prior to joining A&G, Kelvin practiced at an international firm, specialising in litigation and arbitration. Kelvin’s areas of practice encompass various aspects of commercial disputes, including shareholder’s disputes, breaches of directors’ duties and other property related issues. He is also a key partner within the firm’s Construction & Engineering practice group and had been recognised as an “emerging talent” and key lawyer in the areas of construction and arbitration by leading publications. Kelvin graduated from NUS with a First Class Honours in law and has a first degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.

 

 

Jonathan is the Head of Talent Acquisition at NOVA8, an innovative Alternative Legal Service provider. He originally qualified as an employment attorney in the USA, before moving to Singapore in 2013, where he made the change to HR and has since gained extensive regional experience in managing human capital and related projects in the legal services industry.

Anitesh is employed as a Senior Solicitor with Auckland Council’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution team.  As part of his role at Auckland Council, Anitesh is involved in providing strategic and legal advice to internal stakeholders on litigation matters and has appeared as Senior Counsel in the Court of Appeal, High Court and the District Court on several matters.

Before joining Auckland Council, Anitesh was with the central government for a number of years and worked mainly in the Family and Criminal jurisdiction. Anitesh has also worked in private practice in Wellington and Brisbane and is admitted in New Zealand and in Australia.

Anitesh holds a Juris Doctor (specialising in Corporate, Commercial and International Trade Law) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Bond University in Gold Coast.  Anitesh also holds a Bachelor of Science majoring in Microbiology and Immunology from University of Otago.

Anitesh has a keen interest in the lawtech/legaltech space and how technology can enhance ways to provide accurate legal advice and cost-effective litigation.

Outside of work Anitesh enjoys fishing, travelling and cooking.

 

           

Ben has been a lawyer for over 20 years, the first 15 in the UK - initially working for a large law firm, then for Barclays Bank. On moving to New Zealand, Ben joined MinterEllisonRuddWatts and requalified as a New Zealand lawyer before moving back inhouse again in late 2019 to join Xero where he still works today. 

 

Ben has always specialised in Mergers & Acquisitions and has helped buy companies and businesses in more than 25 jurisdictions around the world. At Xero, he is helping in its purpose to make life better for people in small business, their advisers, and their communities. Alongside advising on M&A, he and his team support the treasury function, provide strategic and commercial advice, and assist with corporate law issues. 

 

Ben is married with two teenage children and loves photography, Formula 1, rugby and cycling.

Samson Leo is the co-founder and chief legal officer of Fazz Financial Group and Xfers which are both high-growth Fintech 250 companies. Since his time as co-founder and Chief Legal Officer in Xfers, he has grown Xfers from a 3-person start-up to a regional company with more than 200 people across Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam and Philippines. Today, he heads the Fazz Financial Group’s legal team of 12 legal counsels in Singapore & Indonesia and oversees the FFG Compliance committee consisting of senior compliance professionals and their team.

YEONG Zee Kin 

Deputy Commissioner, Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC)

As Deputy Commissioner of PDPC, Zee Kin oversees the development, administration and enforcement of the Personal Data Protection Act (2012). His key responsibilities include managing the formulation and implementation of policies relating to the protection of personal data, as well as the issuing of enforcement directions for organisational actions. As a well-regarded expert on data privacy issues, he has spearheaded various public and sector-specific activities to raise awareness and compliance in data protection, and is currently participating as an expert in the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI)’s Data Governance Working Group, which addresses data protection issues at the intersection of AI development and deployment.





WONG Wai San

Senior Manager, Policy, PDPC

Wai San is Senior Manager, Policy at PDPC Singapore. She currently develops policies on issues such as enhancing cross border data flows in the ASEAN and EU regions, data breach notification and children's data protection issues. 

Prior to her current role, Wai San was part of the pioneer team that set up IMDA's TechSkills Accelerator Programme, a national talent development programme for professionals to update their skills in today's digital landscape. She was also part of the Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network project, which brought fibre to every home in Singapore.
